Mauritius Equity Markets | 3 Sep 2015 : Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity ends lower, SEM10 index 0.23% drop
Port Louis, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity market capitalization declined by MUR 1.84 billion (US$ 52 million) to settle at MUR 216.486 million relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 216.597 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) peeled by 0.05 percent or 1.00 points to close at 1,944.00 points and SEM10 index closed at 371.44 points after falling by 0.23 percent or 0.87 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 7.674 million (a fall relative to volume of 13.762 million recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 78.263 million (a rise relative to MUR 68.856million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 6.296 million (about 82 percent of total volume) at MUR 5.425 million and CIM Financial registered 581,700 traded stocks amounted to MUR 4.886 million. Sanlam (USD) had 200,791 at US$ 37.648 million and CIEL Limited recorded a total volume of 145,800 shares at MUR 991,440 million. LOTTOTECH Limited also recorded 72,400 shares at MUR 282,390.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of 31 traded securities there were 7 price gainer and 7 losers, hence the market sentiment ends neutral. Mauritius Chemical & Fertilizer Industry emerged as the top gainer by adding 9.05 percent to end at MUR 22.90, Gamma Civic ended at MUR 26.90 after surging by 8.69 percent and SBM Holdings ended at MUR 0.87 after surging by 1.16 percent. National Investment Trust soared by 0.95 percent to settle at MUR 42.50 and New Mauritius Hotels Preference advanced by 0.89 percent to close at MUR 11.30.
On the contrary, the loser was Sanlam (USD) with a price reduction of 3.27 percent to trade at US$ 1.24 and Caudan Limited sagged by 2.36 percent to conclude at MUR 1.24. Mauritius Development Investment Trust tumbled by 1.89 percent to end at MUR 5.20. Alteo Limited settled at MUR 33.10 after sagging by MUR 0.50 or 1.49 percent and Lottotech Limited slumped by 1.28 percent to settle at MUR 3.85.
The DEMEX index ended at 203.43 points after gaining 0.09 points or 0.04 percent. The market capitalization added MUR 21 million to close at MUR 48.349 billion (relative to MUR 48.328 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 3.531 million exchanged in 145,785 traded securities. ABC Motors surged by 14.29 percent to end at MUR 80.00, Constance Hotel closed at MUR 36.80 after gaining 0.82 percent but Constance was 4.76 percent lower to end at MUR 120.00. ENL Limited (Preference) also went down by 2.78 percent to end at MUR 28.00.
